Description

This water colour painting is the third in the series of the African Big 5 by Barbi and named the “Prehistoric present

The black rhino has a reputation for being extremely aggressive. They attack out of fear, confusion and panic. Due to their very poor eyesight they will charge if they sense a threat. They have even been observed to charge tree trunks and termite mounds. Today, black rhinos remain critically endangered because of rising demand for rhino horn, from some Asian consumers, particularly in Vietnam and China, who use them in folk remedies. Their initial population losses were due to habitat loss and big game hunters that killed them for sport.

A great picture of one of the most endangered species. The criminals that hunt or poach these wonderful animals for their horn, should be executed by firing squad.
