Roatan 9

November 9-10, 2012

Now that we have made the decision to leave, we are rushing to complete some more of the garden project. Cary had initially asked if we had the time to landscape the front garden as well. This area is the first glimpse one gets on entering the property so I thought it would be a kind gesture.

Since Caesar our gardener was still available, we set to work on it early. The rain continued in its attempt to dampen our spirits and hinder our progress. It was hilarious to watch as we scattered in all directions each time the heavens opened and dropped its liquid load. Despite the rain we managed to prepare the pathway leading through the garden. Cary had ordered more gravel which was due to arrive the next morning.

When Cary saw the results of our day’s work, she felt inspired to buy a funky little sculpture for the garden and then by chance a local came past carrying a beautiful carving which she purchased to add to the garden. We were able to complete the layout and left her with suggestions as to the plants she could add.

We were able to use the car and decided to go for a ride. We visited an interesting little tourist shop along the road to Coxen Hole and spent some time browsing around it. The manager was charming and friendly and didn’t mind us taking photographs.

Since we only had to be at the airport at 1:00pm Wolf was able to help Patrick and Caesar with the building of the low retaining wall at the pool area. It rained constantly but fortunately they were able to complete it.

We enjoyed our stay in Roatan and would like to visit again someday. We fell in love with the natural unspoilt beauty of Roatan, bay Island of Honduras. We were amazed at the breathtaking sunsets, the friendliness and hospitality of the inhabitants. At the right time of the year it is a tourist’s paradise. For ocean lovers, Roatan has it all, hundreds of Dive Sites, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, swimming and even submarining. For the beach lovers, there are miles of sandy beaches to explore and for the energetic Roatan offers hiking, biking, rain-forest walks, zip-lining and much more.

We are grateful for the experience to see and discover first hand this happy place.
